Hi, I’m Daena – founder of Capall, 24 years old, living in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a rider through and through.

Horses have been a part of my story since I was six years old. My mom is a full-blown horse fanatic, so naturally, I grew up in the world of pony camps, dusty riding lessons, and every horse girl dream come true. At 13, I started riding competitively with the coach who shaped the next 12 years of my life—and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to ride professionally.

Post-school, I lived and breathed horses. I was in the saddle for 9 hours a day, 7 days a week—sitting on up to 14 horses a day under the blazing South African sun. It was intense. It was magic. It was everything. But if there’s one thing I learned, it’s that when you're riding that much, comfort isn’t optional—it’s survival. I literally peeled myself out of my gear each evening, and I pushed every piece of riding clothing to its absolute limits.

And that’s where the cracks started to show. Not just in the seams of my clothes—but in the way they made me feel. My rider wear became purely functional. No style, no expression, no confidence. I felt like a shadow of myself, especially when I had to pop into a store or meet someone after a ride. There’s nothing worse than feeling like your clothes don’t reflect who you are.

Eventually, I stepped back from full-time riding and entered my “boss bitch” era—diving into business and working in sales for a UK-based company. I loved dressing up for work. There was such power and confidence in being well put-together. But when I did return to riding, I felt completely out of place in my old gear. It wasn’t just uncomfortable—it didn’t feel like me anymore.

That’s when Capall was born.

Capall is about blending two worlds: the grit and grind of the stable, and the style and self-expression of everyday life. Our garments are highly functional and unapologetically fashionable—made to move seamlessly between horses, meetings, errands, coffee runs, and even that last-minute dinner.

You see, equestrian life isn’t like any other sport. We don’t just train and go home. We live this life. We teach, we compete, we manage yards, we network, we run businesses, we ride. And yet, most of our clothing only fits in at the stables.
